State Arboretum of Virginia Engagement Session

Cameron & Jordan | State Arboretum of Virginia Engagement Session in Boyce, Virginia

There’s something timeless about an engagement session at the the State Arboretum of Virginia in Boyce, Virginia — especially when it happens on a February afternoon that feels like spring.

Cameron and Jordan’s State Arboretum of Virginia engagement session took place just the day before another snowfall was predicted. Winter was still lingering, but the air felt soft and warm — like spring was quietly making an early appearance. The light was gentle, the grounds were peaceful, and every corner of the arboretum reminded us why this location is beautiful in every season.

From blooming gardens in spring to vibrant summer greens, golden fall foliage, and the quiet elegance of winter — the arboretum never disappoints. It’s one of the most versatile and stunning engagement session locations in Boyce, Virginia.

A Love That’s Been Growing Since Middle School

Cameron and Jordan have known each other since middle school, and that history shows up in the most effortless way. Their connection isn’t flashy — it’s rooted. Comfortable. Secure.

One of the things I care most about during an engagement session is not creating stiff, staged moments. Instead, I guide my couples with prompts that lead to real interaction — movement, laughter, quiet pauses, and natural connection. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s authenticity.

Because years from now, they won’t remember where I told them to stand.

They’ll remember how they felt.

And that’s exactly what this session held — genuine emotion, soft laughter, and the kind of closeness that can’t be forced.

Glowing Evergreens & Historic Stone Walls

The evergreen trees were glowing that afternoon, with the most beautiful light filtering through the branches. It wrapped around Cameron and Jordan in a way that felt warm and cinematic.

One of my favorite features of the State Arboretum of Virginia is the historic stone walls. They create stunning leading lines and add depth and romance to every image. There’s something about the texture of old stone paired with a love story that began years ago — it just fits.

Jordan’s ring added another layer of beauty — a unique design accented with sapphires that caught the light in the most subtle, elegant way. It was timeless, but unexpected. Classic, but personal.

A Sunset Straight Out of a Dream

We ended their engagement session in a photographer’s dream — a wide-open field of tall grass, rolling hills in the distance, and an incredible Virginia sunset that seemed to last forever.

As the sky shifted from gold to blush, Cameron pulled Jordan close, and the entire moment felt peaceful and real. Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Just the two of them, fully present.

Those are the moments that matter most.
