Jonny & Angela McVicker | St. John the Apostle Catholic Church & Raspberry Plain Manor Wedding
A Loudoun County Love Story Years in the Making
May 9, 2026, was a day filled with faith, family traditions, heartfelt moments, and the kind of love story that truly feels meant to be. Jonny and Angela McVicker were married during a beautiful Catholic Nuptial Mass at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church before celebrating the evening with family and friends at Raspberry Plain Manor in Leesburg, Virginia.
There are some wedding days that stay with you because of how meaningful every single detail feels, and this was absolutely one of those days.
One of the sweetest parts of this wedding for me personally is that I have known Angela since she was just a four-year-old little blue butterfly dancing in my ballet class at Ashburn Academy of Dance. Watching her grow into the beautiful woman she is today and then getting to photograph her wedding day was such a full-circle moment and such an honor.
And honestly, Jonny and Angela’s story feels like one of those stories that was always meant to happen.
Before officially meeting through mutual friends — who later stood beside them as the matron of honor and best man on their wedding day — they had crossed paths so many times throughout their lives. Even more incredible, after meeting in Florida, they discovered that they had both grown up in the Loudoun County, Virginia area. Their families had also lived only miles apart in Pennsylvania for years. Somehow, despite being so geographically close throughout their lives, it took all those years and all those unexpected twists and turns for them to finally meet at exactly the right time.
Through long distance, multiple moves, and all the transitions that life can bring, they eventually found themselves settled together in Florida. Yet choosing Loudoun County for their wedding day felt incredibly fitting because it represented so much of the history and connection that had quietly surrounded their story long before they ever met.
Meaningful Wedding Details Filled with Family History
One thing that amazed me about Jonny and Angela was how they planned such an intentional and meaningful wedding in less than six months. Every part of the day carried deep sentimental value, and photographing those details felt incredibly special.
From a family Bible that has walked down the aisle for generations — filled with signatures from loved ones through the years — to a garter worn by generations of the groom’s family with charms added for each couple, every heirloom told a story. Angela also included two especially meaningful rosaries: one belonging to a relative who had passed unexpectedly and another that belonged to her grandmother, whose favorite flower was the blue hydrangea. Blue hydrangeas were thoughtfully woven throughout the entire wedding day in her honor.
A Heartfelt Catholic Nuptial Mass at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church
The Catholic Nuptial Mass was absolutely beautiful and deeply heartfelt. Father Kelly, a priest the family has known for many years, presided over the Mass, making the ceremony feel even more personal and meaningful. There is truly something so sacred and beautiful about witnessing the sacrament of marriage, and seeing Jonny and Angela enter into that covenant surrounded by so much love and support was incredibly moving.
Wedding Portraits with Their Beloved Dogs
After the ceremony, the celebration continued outside the church where they included two very special family members in portraits — their fur babies! Maisy, Angela’s dog, and Sidney, the sweetest 16-and-a-half-year-old lab, joined in for photos and added such a joyful and personal touch to the day.
Raspberry Plain Manor Reception in Leesburg, Virginia
The reception at Raspberry Plain Manor was filled with unforgettable moments from beginning to end. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour accompanied by a live pianist and saxophonist, creating such an elegant and welcoming atmosphere.
The weather throughout the day could not have been more perfect. We started with soft overcast skies that made for beautiful portraits earlier in the day, and by evening the clouds opened into the most spectacular golden light. Golden hour portraits with these two were absolutely stunning and such a perfect reflection of the warmth and joy surrounding their wedding day.
Pittsburgh Traditions, Live Music, and Unforgettable Reception Moments
One of the most unique elements of the evening was the live painter who worked throughout the reception creating a portrait of the newlyweds. Watching the painting come to life over the course of the night was such a fun experience for guests, and the final reveal at the end of the evening was incredibly special.
Their reception was also full of meaningful family traditions and personal touches that celebrated their deep Pittsburgh roots and family history. A Pittsburgh cookie table lovingly created by relatives stayed stocked throughout the night, offering guests homemade desserts and a beautiful nod to family tradition. Pittsburgh sports towels made an appearance as well, representing Jonny and Angela’s love for all things Pittsburgh sports. Later in the evening, guests were absolutely spoiled with a late-night pierogi and queso fountain that became such a fun and memorable surprise to end the night.
There were so many emotional and joyful moments throughout the evening, from the anniversary dance honoring a couple who had been married for 60 years to the lively money dance set to a fun polka that had everyone laughing and dancing with the bride and groom.
And of course, the dance floor stayed full all night long.
A Perfect Sparkler Exit to End the Night
The evening ended with a beautiful sparkler exit that felt like the perfect ending to an unforgettable day.
Jonny and Angela are truly one of the sweetest couples, and it was such an honor to be part of this incredible celebration. Their wedding day was a beautiful reminder that sometimes God is quietly weaving together two stories long before people even realize it.
I am so thankful I had the opportunity to witness and document the beginning of this next chapter for these two, and I wish them a lifetime filled with joy, laughter, faith, and love.
